I have been the victim of emotional, financial, verbal, sexual, and physical abuse from my wife. Yeah, that’s right, I’m a man. And worse, she started abusing my daughter too.
As a survivor of domestic abuse, each day brings a sense of peace and healing. To those of you reading who have been victims of domestic abuse, to those who are victims now, and especially to those who will become a victim of domestic abuse, I promise you there is hope.
I was abused as a child. Because of that, I learned how to pick myself up and keep going. I tried to be strong and brave. But I was only a kid. I wanted someone to protect me. No one did.
Even as a bright young woman with confidence and a strong personality, I found myself falling for a man who emotionally and physically abused me. How did that happen—and to me?
