Do I need an Emergency Shelter or a Second-Stage Shelter?​
Emergency Shelters, also known as Transition Houses, provide short-term emergency accommodations and services for women and children fleeing violence. The stay can last days, weeks, or months depending on the shelter.
Second-stage shelters are longer-term, safe and affordable accommodations for women and children who may not be fleeing immediate abuse but still require continued support and safety. The length of stay may be months or years depending on the shelter.
